Square Mile Farms is on a mission to reconnect people with food. We put vertical growing systems into urban areas, such as corporate offices, co working spaces and apartment buildings, so people can grow and consume their own zero miles, ultra fresh salad greens and herbs where they live and work.
We are hiring for a position within our Product team to play a key role in the build, installation and remediation of our farm systems across our ever expanding network of sites. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of our environmentally conscious and mission-lead start-up. Responsibilities:
- Work closely within our small Product team to manage our farm systems end to end from inventory, to build, to install and then to remediation as well supporting iterative design improvements.
- Lead on execution of system builds, system assembly and installation of our various systems
- Prepare tool and ancillary kits pre installation process
- Install the systems into client sites as per specification
- QA the systems on client sites at the end of installations to ensure they work to expectation with no issues
- Support with logistics including supporting arranging access to sites, arranging couriers, driving to and from client sites to collect/deliver farm systems, liaising with clients for such plans
- Support with management of inventory ensuring that it is all stored safely, neatly and accessible
- Lead on the cleaning process for all swapped inventory from client sites, making sure the correct process is being followed and that we don’t generate a build up of dirty inventory
- Be the owner of the workshop, taking pride in maintaining order and tidiness
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently during all phases of work to ensure a secure working environment.
- Be proactive, continuously looking for ways to improve the design and performance of our products and our processes
- Ensure high standards of product and service delivery
- Ensure highly professional and exceptional client communication when on site
- Hybrid working partly from our HQ in Paddington but also across our wide number of client sites
Requirements:
- Experience or education in a trade
- Someone who takes pride in and enjoys working with their hands
- An exceptional attitude most importantly - positive, proactive, willing collaborator and a strong work ethic
- Keen to be part of a team and to contribute to something bigger than themselves
- High attention to detail and the ability to follow instruction and process
- Strong communication skills, both to work the SMF team as well as to represent the business on site.
- An interest or passion for agriculture, hydroponics, horticulture or nature
- Full UK driver's license - ideal but not essential
- Fluency in English

Pay: £28,860.00 per year
