Role Overview

We are seeking a Risk & Compliance Officer with experience in UK Financial Services to support regulatory compliance, onboarding, transaction oversight, and risk management activities. The role involves working closely with front-office teams to ensure adherence to FCA regulations and internal compliance frameworks, while supporting cross-border (UK/EU) regulatory coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Advisory

Act as a key point of contact for compliance queries from business and deal teams
Provide guidance on FCA regulations including MiFID II, MAR, COBS, AML and GDPR
Support interpretation and application of regulatory requirements in day-to-day business activity
Advise on client classification, disclosures, and regulatory obligations

Onboarding & Transaction Support

Oversee KYC/AML onboarding processes for new clients and transactions
Review engagement letters, mandates, and related legal documentation
Support approval processes for new business and financial products
Ensure compliance risks are identified and escalated appropriately

Risk & Controls Monitoring

Conduct first-line review of conflicts of interest and maintain conflict registers
Monitor insider lists and manage information barriers
Review marketing materials and financial promotions for regulatory compliance
Support surveillance of market abuse and conduct risk indicators

Compliance Operations & Reporting

Assist in compliance monitoring programmes and internal audits
Support maintenance of risk assessments and compliance registers
Contribute to regulatory reporting (FCA submissions, internal reporting packs)
Support SM&CR governance processes where applicable

Cross-Border & Stakeholder Coordination

Coordinate with EU affiliates on cross-border regulatory requirements
Ensure consistency of compliance standards across jurisdictions
Provide training and guidance to business teams on compliance matters

Requirements

2–4 years’ experience in Risk, Compliance, Regulatory Advisory, or Legal (Financial Services focus)
Strong understanding of FCA regulatory framework
Knowledge of MiFID II, MAR, COBS, AML/KYC, GDPR
Experience in onboarding, compliance review, or transaction support
Exposure to financial services products and investment banking environment

Desirable

Experience in investment banking, asset management, or advisory firms
Knowledge of structured finance products (ABS, MBS, CLOs, credit-linked instruments)
Cross-border compliance or EU regulatory exposure
Experience in compliance monitoring or framework development

Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical and regulatory interpretation skills
High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Confident working with senior stakeholders and front-office teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and decision-making skills
