About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a detail oriented and proactive Project Support Officer to support delivery of a complex, multi‑year IT transformation programme. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring effective governance, coordination, and reporting across workstreams / projects, helping the programme team deliver critical technology capabilities on time and to high quality standards.
This role is well suited to someone who thrives in structured environments, enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders, and has a passion for enabling successful delivery within large-scale IT programmes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing day-to-day project and programme support across one or more IT projects or workstreams.
- Maintaining and coordinating plans, updating the plan on a page, maintaining RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and action trackers. Tracking and following up on cross-team commitments, supplier deliverables.
- Supporting governance activities, including preparation for project boards or checkpoints, NISTA/IPA reviews and assurance checkpoints.
- Producing high-quality programme documentation, including status reports, packs, presentations.
- Tracking delivery milestones, highlighting issues and risks, and supporting escalation where required.
- Coordinating inputs from technical, commercial, security, and business stakeholders to assist projects managers.
- Supporting financial tracking activities such as cost forecasts, spend tracking, and purchase order / procurement activities.
- Ensuring that the customer has a clear view of upcoming deliverables (engineering artefacts) and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) so that we have a full audit trail of decisions and deliverable approvals/sign off.
- Supporting onboarding of new team members and maintaining programme knowledge repositories.
- Scheduling and managing PI Planning events (dates, rooms, tooling, agendas)
- Maintain the ART calendar (sprint dates, system demos, inspect & adapt events, annual holidays etc).
- Ensuring that actions from Inspect & Adapt events are logged and owned.
- Managing documentation spaces e.g. defining and implement the SharePoint file plan, Rosa Docs file plan and Confluence file plan.
- Managing distribution groups in Outlook, attendance lists for key agile events, invites, logistics for ART ceremonies etc.
- You will support Continuous Improvement by running reviews/workshops to mature the JML process or refine and communicate the document review process etc.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience working in similar positions within IT or digital programmes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience maintaining programme artefacts such as plans, RAID logs, and status reporting.
- Confidence working with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collaboration platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Teams, JIRA / Confluence).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality outputs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- A structured, methodical approach to work, with a problem-solving mindset.
Bonus Points For
- Experience supporting large, complex, or regulated IT programmes.
- Familiarity with formal delivery frameworks or controls (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe).
- Previous experience working in government, defence, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience supporting assurance, audit, or compliance activities.
- PMO, PRINCE2 Foundation, MSP Foundation, or Agile qualifications.
- Existing UK Government Security Clearance (SC or above)

Clearance Requirements:
This role requires either an existing Security Clearance (SC level) or for one to be passed before commencement. There must be a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV).
