In-Prison Volunteer Music Facilitator – (InHouse Records)

Location: HMP Pentonville, HMP Lewes

Organisation: InHouse Records

Position Type: Volunteer

Suitable for someone who lives in London or around Lewes, you can chose either one.

About the Role

InHouse Records is looking for a passionate Volunteer Music Facilitator to support our in-prison programmes. This work focuses on using music as a tool for rehabilitation, working directly with individuals in prison to help them build confidence, learn new skills, and express themselves in a positive way.

As we celebrate our 10th year, our approach remains rooted in our motto: focusing on what’s strong, not what’s wrong. You’ll be part of a team that sees potential first and uses creativity to help people move forward.

You’ll be helping to deliver engaging music sessions inside prison settings, creating a safe and supportive space where participants can explore their creativity and develop their voice.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting and helping lead music sessions in prison environments

Teaching the basics of music creation, songwriting, and recording

Encouraging participants to express themselves through music

Helping build confidence, discipline, and teamwork through creative work

Supporting individuals who may go on to join our studio programme after release

Working closely with the InHouse team to deliver consistent, positive sessions

What we’re looking for

Someone with a genuine passion for music and social impact

Confidence working with people from different backgrounds

Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills

Basic knowledge of music creation, whether that’s production, songwriting, or recording

Reliable and able to commit to sessions where possible

Bonus if you have

Experience in teaching, mentoring, youth work, or rehabilitation settings

Music production or studio experience

Experience running workshops or group sessions

What you’ll get out of it
