Our Minimally Invasive Treatment Suite within Orthopaedics & Neurology is a highly specialised service supporting image guided procedures that improve patient outcomes and recovery times. The service plays a critical role in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care across a range of orthopaedic, spinal, and pain management interventions.
Working closely with consultants, anaesthetists, nursing teams, and wider clinical colleagues, the department ensures procedures are supported by high quality imaging in a controlled, patient-focused environment. Precision, safety, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.
As a Bank Scrub Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality procedures within the Procedure Suite. You will provide skilled scrub assistance across a range of specialties, ensuring that surgical interventions are delivered efficiently and in line with best practice standards.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for preparing theatres, maintaining sterile fields, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team throughout procedures. You will contribute to a calm and organised environment, ensuring equipment and instrumentation are prepared, checked, and used safely.
You will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, adherence to infection prevention and control standards, and effective communication with colleagues. Flexibility is key in this bank role, allowing you to support varying caseloads and respond to service demand.

Deliver safe, high-quality scrub support across a range of procedures and specialties
Prepare operating theatres, equipment, and instrumentation in line with clinical protocols
Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection prevention and control standards
Anticipate the needs of surgeons and the wider theatre team during procedures
Ensure surgical instruments and consumables are handled, checked, and accounted for correctly
Support patient positioning, dignity, and safety throughout the perioperative journey
Accurately document procedures and complete relevant clinical records
Participate in safety checks, including WHO surgical safety checklists
Escalate concerns, incidents, or equipment issues appropriately
Work flexibly to support service delivery as part of the bank workforce

You are a qualified Scrub Practitioner (RGN or ODP) with experience working within a theatre or procedure suite environment. You are confident supporting a range of surgical procedures and demonstrate a thorough understanding of aseptic techniques and perioperative care.
You communicate clearly and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, showing professionalism, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to patient safety. Adaptable and reliable, you are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can respond flexibly to changing service needs.
