Salary: £26,520 – £27,564 per year (depending on experience and qualifications). Paid/TOIL weekend work to be offered on top as part of a rota basis.
About the Club
Founded in 1904, Shirehampton Park Golf Club is a well-established private members’ golf club located on the north-west edge of Bristol. The Club features an attractive parkland course set within mature woodland, providing an enjoyable and varied test of golf for members and visitors alike.
The Club has a strong and active membership and prides itself on offering a friendly and welcoming environment both on and off the course. The course is maintained year-round by a dedicated greenkeeping team, with a continued focus on improving course presentation and delivering a high standard of playing conditions throughout the season.
In recent years the Club has maintained an ongoing programme of course improvements and investment in course maintenance, reflecting a long-term commitment to the development of both the course and the greenkeeping team.
We are now seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Greenkeeper to join our team and play an important role in the continued care and improvement of the golf course.
The Role
Working as part of the greenkeeping team and reporting to the Course Manager, you will assist in maintaining the golf course to a consistently high standard throughout the year.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors, and has a genuine interest in turf management and golf course maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and surrounding areas
- Operation of a range of turf care machinery
- Assisting with course improvement and renovation projects
- Supporting general course presentation and preparation for competitions and events
- Carrying out routine maintenance tasks including cutting, strimming, bunker raking, and divoting
- Following all health, safety, and environmental best practices
- Working collaboratively with the wider greenkeeping team
Desirable Qualifications (non-essential)
- Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Sports Turf / Greenkeeping (or currently working towards)
- Previous greenkeeping experience
- Basic knowledge of turf care practices and machinery
- Valid spraying certificates (PA1, PA2, PA6 or equivalent)
- Chainsaw certification (CS30 / CS31 units)
Essential Requirements
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends on a rota basis, and in varying weather conditions
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Full UK driving licence
