We are looking to appoint a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable /Payroll Manager to manage our in-house payroll function, and be involved in other areas of finance, it is envisaged a 50:50 split in responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

· Administer end-to-end in-house payroll on a monthly basis

· Process starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, and deductions

· Ensure payroll complies with HMRC regulations, including PAYE, NI, and pension contributions

· Manage pension auto-enrolment, contributions, and reporting

· Maintain accurate employee payroll records and documentation

· Handle payroll queries from employees in a confidential and professional manner

· Prepare payroll reports for management and finance

· Liaise with external bodies such as HMRC, pension providers, and auditors when required

· Support year-end processes, including P60s and P11Ds (if applicable)

Accounting Support:

· Bank, foreign currency, Invoice factoring & Cash management & forecasting

· Financial Accounting – includes reconciliations, variance explanations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, R&D capitalisation etc

· VAT returns, and reconciliations

· Accounts Payable supervising

· ERP and finance related systems

· Ad hoc projects and duties

· Supervise the Finance Assistant and Accounts Payable person.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Proven experience managing payroll as a primary responsibility, ideally within a medium to large organisation.
Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
Experience overseeing or supporting Accounts Payable functions.
Solid financial accounting knowledge, including VAT and balance sheet controls.
Experience working with payroll systems, ERP platforms, and finance software.
Strong people management skills, with experience supervising and developing team members.
Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and confident working with deadlines.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

This role is office based ,Monday to Friday 8:30-5:30.
