Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced hospitality professional to join our team as Cellar Door Supervisor. This is a varied, hands-on role combining day-to-day hospitality operations with team leadership, while supporting our dining service, events, tours and tourism activities.The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences, supervising front-of-house operations, leading and motivating the cellar door team, and ensuring the smooth running of wine tastings, tours, dining service and events. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys a diverse role in a dynamic winery environment.This position would suit an organised, proactive individual with strong hospitality experience, excellent customer service skills and the confidence to lead a team while maintaining high standards across all aspects of the business.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Supervise restaurant staff during shifts
- Ensure excellent customer service and guest satisfaction
- Coordinate seating, reservations and table management
- Monitor food and beverage service standards
- Train, support and motivate team members
- Handle customer complaints professionally and promptly
- Assist with menu management
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene, and health and safety regulations
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages
- Support opening and closing procedures
- Ensure cleanliness and presentation of dining areas
- Assist management with daily operational tasks
- Maintain communication between the kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Assist management with tracking performance and productivity of staff
- Manage POS system and assist with back of office setup
- Understand all POS systems and how to effectively use them, assisting staff where necessary
Operational Responsibilities
- Assisting in the running of our bar for walk-in visitors as well as for our booked experiencesand events
- Stocking up of the bar and stock rotation#
- Keeping the bar area and winery outdoor and indoor seating areas clean and tidy
- Promoting the Mereworth brand
- Set-up of the bar and seating areas
- Clean down at the end of shifts and after events.
- Serving Drinks to Customers
- Taking Cash and Card Payments at the Point of Sale
- Running Food Orders to the Tables from the Kitchen
- Welcome guests in a friendly manner and assist in seating them
- Take customer’s orders when confident to do so, and with appropriate training.
- Deliver drinks to customers at the table.
- Run food from the kitchen to the customers at the table.
- Clear tables and take empty glasses to the bar, and food items to the kitchen.
- Load the glass washer, polish clean glasses and return them to the shelves.
- Keep the bar area, indoor and outdoor seating areas clean and tidy.
- Process cash and card transactions, when confident to do so, and with appropriate training.

- Labelling and packaging support may be required on an ad hoc basis, as well as the packing,distribution and delivery of orders

Pay: £27,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
