Full job description

The Faculty of Advocates is one of Scotland’s most ancient and prestigious organisations with a vibrant professional body of practising Advocates. The Facilities Department has a key role in supporting the organisation, working in a busy operational team to provide the Office Bearers and Members of Faculty with a high level of service. The vacancy below has arisen within the Facilities Department based in Edinburgh:

Post: Faculty Officer (part-time 25 hours)

Reference: 26.15

Salary: Grade 5a: £26,036 - £31,649 per annum (pro rata)

All new appointments will be made at the start of the salary scale

Hours: 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday: 8:00am - 13:00pm)

The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the Faculty reception, dealing with enquiries by telephone, email and in person, managing the delivery of mail, booking consultation rooms and assisting Members of Faculty with their Court Dress. The successful applicant will also assist with the running of seminars and Conferences

The successful candidate will be responsible for opening Faculty buildings on a daily basis, ensuring the presentation of buildings are presented to a high standard and that any maintenance or operational issues are reported promptly.

Maintaining a high standard of service to all Members and ensuring confidentiality at all times is essential.

The successful applicant must possess four National 4 or 5’s/Standard Grades/O’Grades (or equivalent) and will be looking to develop experience in a customer service role. A basic level of Microsoft Office computer literacy is essential, as well as excellent communication skills, attention to detail and integrity.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a positive attitude and an enthusiasm to learn and support their colleagues. They will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and be courteous and professional in all interactions with staff and Members of Faculty.
