ROLE OVERVIEW:
- The Shoe Technician (Repairs & Manufacturing) plays a key role within the LANX Factory, supporting both footwear repairs and manufacturing operations. This hands-on position is responsible for carrying out high-quality shoe repairs, assisting in the production of footwear, and ensuring all products meet LANX quality standards before reaching customers.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete footwear repairs to a consistently high standard, including leather repairs, sole replacements, polishing, refinishing, and general refurbishment work.
- Manufacture footwear within the LANX factory, supporting key production stages including lasting, sole bonding, assembly, finishing, and quality control.
- Prepare footwear components and materials for production and repair processes.
- Carry out sole bonding and adhesive application in accordance with company quality standards.
- Perform leather repairs, conditioning, restoration, and finishing work as required.
- Conduct thorough quality control inspections throughout the repair and manufacturing process.
- Pack and prepare completed footwear for dispatch, ensuring presentation and packaging standards are maintained.
- Ensure work areas, tools, and equipment are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet daily production and repair targets.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop and factory.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Knowledge/Experience of footwear manufacturing and cement construction processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Good manual dexterity for assembly, trimming, and finishing tasks
- Experience with adhesive application, polishing, and final inspection
- Ability to manage time and meet daily production targets
- Team player with clear communication and collaboration skills
- Basic computer and recordkeeping abilities for stock and production data
- Previous manufacturing or assembly line experience preferred
- Understanding of safety procedures and ability to perform physical tasks
REPORT TO:
- Report to Factory Lead and Factory Manager for all matters relating to footwear production and repairs.

WORKING DAY & HOURS:
- Full time
- Monday - Friday: 8am - 4.30pm
PLACE OF WORK:
- LANX HQ, Whalley, BB7 9YE
- Remote working not available in this role
ANNUAL LEAVE:
- Permitted 28 days annual leave per year
- The company operates annual factory shutdown periods during which employees are required to take part of their annual leave entitlement. The shutdown dates are communicated in advance each year.
MUST WORK:
- 1x day over our annual Sample Sale Weekend - usually March, dates tbc
- 2 additional days around Black Friday - usually end of Nov
- For the above additional days annual leave will be granted, or you can be paid 1.5 your normal day rate
