Job Description:
Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week
HMS Raleigh, Cornwall
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for the maintaining and day to day running of water safety equipment for HMS Raleigh and local outstations utilising the Water safety equipment log.
- Act as a safety surface swimmer in a swimming pool environment to facilitate delivery of training.
- Provide demonstrations of equipment and drills.
- Act as expert end user for specified training equipment.
- Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with.
You may also be required to carry out the following – training will be given:
- Deliver instruction in Seamanship aspects such as Rigging (splicing), Water safety equipment maintainer/supervisor, Sea survival techniques.
- Undertake direct support tasks for training delivery activity, post-delivery assessments and post-delivery activities.
What we’re looking for
Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- Competent swimmer.
- Proficient in using IT within the workplace .
Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- Experience as a Water safety equipment maintainer.
- Sea survival instructor.
- DTC (defence trainer course) or equivalent.
- Experience in splicing various types of cordage.
- Safety swimmer qualification.
- RYA powerboat level 2 coxswains qualification.
- Lifting equipment examiner.
