Job Overview
The Bid Writer / Senior Bid Writer will support regional teams as an integral member of the Proposals Team, which operates within the Pre-Construction department at Higgins Partnerships. This role is essential in managing and delivering high-quality bids across a variety of projects, including development, new build, fire remediation, decarbonisation, and retrofit works.
The Bid Writer / Senior Bid Writer will be responsible for producing client-focused, compelling proposals that reflect Higgins’ expertise and innovation while ensuring all submissions are compliant, timely, and aligned with client requirements. Working collaboratively with regional and multidisciplinary teams, the Bid Writer / Senior Bid Writer will play a key role in the success of the business.
Duties
- Work closely with and interview all disciplines within the business to gather and assimilate technical, operational, and commercial information for high-quality proposal content.
- Develop clear, well-written proposals that effectively convey operational, technical, and commercial solutions in a concise and client-focused manner.
- Strategically plan, orchestrate, and manage how the tender’s quality is responded to, ensuring submissions align with client requirements and scoring criteria.
- Develop and maintain standardised response formats and content libraries to ensure efficiency and consistency across submissions.
- Refine information provided by others to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with tender specifications.
- Create high-quality submission documents with attention to detail, style, and flair, using IT and design skills where necessary such as InDesign.
- Develop engaging and visually appealing presentation materials for client interviews and bid pitches.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the quality and impact of submissions by incorporating innovative approaches and feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- APMP Foundation
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive proposals.
- Proven experience in bid writing or business proposal development, ideally in construction or housing sectors.
- Experience in preparing tailored proposals aligned with client needs and strategic objectives.
- Creative flair and proficiency in IT tools, including Microsoft Office and design platforms like Adobe InDesign or Canva.
- Proficiency in word processing software is essential; familiarity with Visio is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Outstanding organisational abilities, attention to detail and the capability of meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality
- Knowledge of the construction industry, particularly in relation to bid and proposal development.
Competitive salary depending on experience.
Contractual hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Upon successful completion of probation, you will be given the option to work from home one day per week.
