Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Activity Coordinator to join our dedicated team at George Potter House Care Home. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with a genuine zest for life and a passion for enriching the lives of older people — particularly those living with dementia.

As the Activity Coordinator, you will design and deliver a vibrant, inclusive, and meaningful programme of activities that promotes residents’ well-being, independence, and joy.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver a varied calendar of meaningful activities that supports residents’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
Design activities tailored to individual interests, preferences, and care needs, with a focus on people living with dementia.
Celebrate local, national, and international events in a culturally sensitive and engaging way.
Encourage residents to stay active and involved by offering both group and one-to-one activities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, and the wider community to promote social inclusion.
Lead and motivate care and support staff to assist in the delivery of activities.
Organise community engagement and intergenerational events, inviting local groups to participate or lead sessions.
Create and maintain individual lifestyle histories and life story work to inform person-centred care.
Maintain accurate activity records, risk assessments, and reports in line with company and regulatory requirements.
Support residents with cognitive or sensory impairments to participate safely and meaningfully in activities.

Experience & Skills

Previous experience in a similar role is essential (e.g., Activities Coordinator, Wellbeing Lead, or Lifestyle Coordinator).
Experience working with people living with dementia is highly desirable.
Experience in a care home, nursing home, or assisted living setting is an advantage.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage residents of varying abilities.
Creative thinker with strong organisational and planning skills.
Compassionate, patient, and able to adapt activities to meet individual needs.
Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and safeguarding procedures.
Confident using IT for planning, communication, and record keeping.
