Role Summary:
The Procurement Specialist is a detail-oriented and proactive role within the Procurement team. You will be responsible for managing the procurement of all packaging and raw materials on site. Ensuring timely delivery and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
As a key role within the team you will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain processes, exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with various departments to meet company goals.
You will take ownership for key data models within the department, interpreting data to understand demand requirements. You will have day to day communication with suppliers and hauliers, managing non conformances and supplier service performance.
You will support the Head of Procurement executing procurement priorities in line with business goals. You will have exposure to contract negotiation and tenders and support in internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end supply process, from RFQs to order fulfilment
- Ensure consistent material availability to meet production needs
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve delivery issues, shortages, and schedule changes
- Raise, track, and manage purchase orders within ERP systems
- Analyse stock levels, including slow and non-moving inventory
- Support cost negotiation and supplier performance management
- Build and maintain strong supplier and haulier relationships
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, innovation, and service improvement
- Maintain accurate contract and procurement documentation
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational qualification in Business administration, Procurement or supply chain management
- MCIPS / CIPS qualification preferred
- Proven procurement experience within manufacturing, FMCG or materials-driven industries
- Knowledge of procurement processes, procedures, and best practices essential
Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced Excel and strong Microsoft Office skills
- Strong attention to detail with a technical, data-driven mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven negotiation and supplier management experience
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Team-focused with a collaborative working style
- Numerate and commercially aware, with a focus on cost control and performance
Work Environment and Location:
The role requires flexibility to access all areas of the site, while time will be spent in an office environment there is a requirement to spend time in all areas of the site which could require long periods of standing.
The factory is located in a remote area with no public transport or safe walking paths, so own/reliable transport is essential.
Package:
- Shift – Monday-Friday, 0800-1600hrs
- Salary - Up to £40,000 per year, dependant on experience and qualifications
