About Camping Connect by Passman
Camping Connect by Passman provides Wi-Fi and connectivity services to the UK outdoor leisure industry, primarily supporting holiday parks, caravan sites and individual caravan owners.
We are expanding our network of installation contractors and are looking for reliable, practical field engineers to install Individual Van Wi-Fi (IVW) equipment in caravans across in Skegness however some travel to Northumberland and Yorkshire down through Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk.
Most assignments will involve scheduled installations for private caravan owners or holiday park operators. Contractors may also be offered fault-finding and service visits for consumer wireless broadband connections and related equipment.
The contract
You will travel between customer locations in your local area and complete installations independently, following our documented installation process and safety requirements.
A typical working day will be planned around completing approximately six caravan installations, subject to travel distances, site access and the complexity of each installation.
Equipment will normally be collected from a local Camping Connect by Passman office. It may be supplied pre-configured, or we will train you to complete the required configuration yourself.
Full product training, installation guidance and ongoing support will be provided.
What you’ll be doing
- Install wireless broadband and Wi-Fi equipment in static caravans and holiday homes.
- Fit external subscriber modules, brackets, J-poles and associated fixtures.
- Check and establish a clear line of sight to the site’s wireless access point where required.
- Route data cable neatly through or underneath caravans.
- Drill safe cable-entry points after checking for pipes, electrical cables, gas lines, joists and other obstructions.
- Terminate CAT5e cabling using RJ45 connectors and data outlets.
- Install, connect and test routers, PoE injectors and related equipment.
- Complete both fixed-wireless and hard-wired caravan connections.
- Confirm that each installation is working correctly before leaving.
- Attend selected consumer wireless broadband faults and related service calls.
- Identify, record and report technical problems, access restrictions or additional work required.
- Take before-and-after photographs and complete the required installation records.
- Communicate professionally with caravan owners, park staff and our operations team.
- Carry out a site-specific risk assessment and work safely at all times.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and leave each installation area clean and tidy.
What you’ll need
- Self-employed status and the right to work in the UK.
- Your own suitable van.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Your own professional tools, ladders and step ladders.
- Public Liability Insurance, or willingness to arrange it before receiving work.
- A smartphone with internet access.
- A laptop with an Ethernet/RJ45 connection or suitable adaptor.
- Confidence using drills, impact drivers, hand tools and ladders.
- Relevant experience in installation, telecommunications, networking, maintenance, shop fitting or another practical trade.
- Ability to work independently, manage an allocated schedule and travel between appointments.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail, particularly when drilling into or fixing equipment to customers’ caravans.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and submit accurate job information and photographs.
Your tools should include
- Ladder and step ladder.
- Drill and impact driver.
- Suitable drill bits and driver bits.
- Screwdrivers and general hand tools.
- Krone/punch-down tool.
- RJ45 crimping tools.
- Network cable tester.
- Cable stripper.
- Cable rods.
- Staple gun.
- Socket tester.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment.
Previous experience with the following would be advantageous
- Wireless broadband, Wi-Fi or telecommunications installations.
- Installing routers, wireless bridges or customer-premises equipment.
- Running and terminating CAT5e or CAT6 data cabling.
- Mounting external brackets, poles and fixtures.
- Diagnosing broadband or network connectivity faults.
- Working on holiday parks or inside static caravans.
- Customer-facing field service work.
- Working safely from ladders and at height.
- CSCS, IPAF, asbestos-awareness or other relevant safety training.

Contract arrangements
Work is offered on a self-employed, project-by-project basis according to customer demand and your agreed availability. Installation volumes may vary by location, season and site requirements.
The standard expectation is approximately six completed installations per working day, where appointment spacing and site conditions allow. Fault visits and non-standard work may be agreed in leiu of consumer installations.
Contractors are responsible for their own vehicle, fuel, tools, insurance, tax and National Insurance unless agreed otherwise in writing.

- Please describe how you would use a laptop to connect to and configure or troubleshoot a network device. Include any relevant experience you have with IP addresses, Ethernet connections, web-based device interfaces or basic connectivity testing.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an initial screening call. Suitable contractors may then be asked to attend a practical assessment or accompanied installation with an experienced Camping Connect by Passman engineer.
Evidence of your driving licence, right to work, Public Liability Insurance and relevant references will be required before work is allocated.
