About the role
You’ll bring your specialist communication assessment skills into a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), contributing to diagnostic decision-making for children and young people referred for ASD and/or ADHD assessment.
Your role will combine clinical expertise, collaboration, and high-quality reporting to ensure every child receives a thorough and compassionate assessment.
What you’ll be doing
Clinical Assessment & MDT Work
- Conduct structured speech, language and communication assessments
- Gather evidence from families, schools, and professionals
- Contribute to MDT diagnostic discussions using clear clinical reasoning
- Identify co-occurring needs and support differential diagnosis
Reporting & Communication
- Produce clear, high-quality clinical reports
- Share findings sensitively with families and professionals
- Provide practical, neurodiversity-affirming recommendations
Governance & Quality
- Work within NICE guidance and clinical governance frameworks
- Participate in audit, supervision, and continuous improvement
- Maintain excellent documentation and safeguarding standards
Pathway Collaboration
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure smooth patient journeys
- Support interface working across ASD and ADHD pathways
- Liaise with GPs, education settings, and partner services
What we’re looking for
Essential
- HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist
- Strong experience working with children & young people
- Background in neurodevelopmental or diagnostic pathways
- Excellent report writing and clinical reasoning skills
- Confident working within multi-disciplinary teams
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding and risk management
Desirable
- Experience with standardised assessment tools
- Familiarity with ADOS-2 or diagnostic frameworks
- Experience in high-volume or Right to Choose services
- Interest in service development and pathway improvement
