Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our care home. This vacancy is for 18 hours per week.
The ideal candidate will have a previous experience in care, particularly in assisted living and dementia care, and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents. This role requires excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for caring for the elderly.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and physical exercises.
- Coordinate with care staff to ensure that all activities are safe and suitable for residents with varying levels of ability.
- Foster a warm and inclusive environment where residents feel encouraged to participate.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve the activity programme.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and encourage involvement.
- Assist in organising special events, outings, and celebrations that enhance community spirit within the care home.
- Ensure all materials and resources needed for activities are prepared in advance.
Experience
- Previous experience in an activity coordination role within a care setting is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with elderly individuals and their families.
- A creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging programmes that cater to diverse interests.
- Understanding of the physical and emotional needs of seniors is essential.
