Finance Assistant (Payroll & Finance) – Job Description
Role reports to: The Finance Supervisor
Location – Great Yarmouth
SUMMARY OF ROLE
This is an exciting and varied role within a fast-paced small team. As a Payroll Administrator and Finance Assistant, you will be at the heart of operations, taking the lead in delivering accurate and timely weekly payroll for over 280 employees. Alongside this you’ll play an integral part in the finance function, getting hands on with tasks such as banking, reconciliations and managing petty cash, making every day dynamic and rewarding.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Processing accurate and timely weekly payroll, including starters, leaver and contractual changes
· You will be first point of contact for payroll queries from employees and managers, providing accurate and timely responses.
· Investigation and resolving payroll discrepancies, escalating complex issues where required.
· Managing complex payroll activity including absence-related pay (sickness, maternity, paternity, adoption, employee benefits)
· Respond to payroll queries and collaborate with internal teams and external providers.
· Administer statutory payments, pensions and employee benefits in line with UK legislation.
· Validate payroll data, carry out checks and support reconciliations and reporting.
· Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with GDPR and company policies.
· Run reports and audits in line with Company procedures.
· Communicate effectively with managers and staff whilst maintaining positive relationships.
· Analyse & interpret data and provide relevant information to Finance Supervisor to assist with weekly, monthly annual reports.
· Adapt to evolving systems, use initiative and contribute towards continuous development of the role.
· Ensure payroll knowledge is current through attendance of webinars, seminars or online updates as appropriate.
· Provide support to the Finance function as required to ensure team all targets are achieved and deadlines are met.
· Strong MS office (Including Excel) skills are essential. It is your responsibility through internet searches, attending training courses provided and shared team knowledge to keep your skill level up to date.

· In addition to the duties set out in this job description the post holder may at times be required to undertake additional or other duties to meet the needs of Swiss Camplings which may require travel to other sites.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
The Payroll & Finance Assistant role is especially suited for someone who fits the following description:
· Strong payroll experience in a high-volume transactional payroll environment
· Solid technical knowledge of payroll legislation including PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP and wider tax compliance requirements
· Has general finance experience: including AR, AP & GL.
· Experience processing end to end payroll including starters, leavers and contract changes.
· A person who possesses a self-motivated and conscientious work ethic.
· They will be methodical, organised and accurate.
· A strong understanding of finance deadlines and the ability to consistently meet them.

Regular on-going training is provided within work hours in the following contexts: Mandatory training relevant to the role, organisational wide training, team meetings and opportunities for regular professional training.
