Full job description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Distribution and Transport Manager to oversee the efficient operation of our logistics, transportation, and warehouse functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing supply chain processes, supervising teams, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to optimise overall performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in logistics management, warehouse operations, and process optimisation to contribute to organisational success. MUST SPEAK FLUENT DUTCH LANGUAGE.

Responsibilities

Plans the optimum utilisation of staff and operating equipment, and co-ordinates maintenance activities to ensure least possible disruption to services.
Co-ordinates the transportation of passengers, the movement, handling and storage of freight in transit, and reviews space utilisation, staffing and distribution expenditure to determine future distribution policies.
Ensures that regulations regarding hours of work, the licensing of crews and transport equipment, the operational safety and efficiency of equipment, the insurance of vehicles and other statutory regulations are complied with.
Ensures that harbour channels and berths are maintained and liaises with ship owners, crew, customs officials, dock and harbour staff to arrange entry, berthing and servicing of ships.
Supervises day-to-day activities in a railway station.
Arranges for maintenance of airport runways and buildings, liaises with fuel and catering crews to ensure adequate supplies and resolves any complaints and problems raised by airport users.

Skills

Proven experience supervising logistics or warehouse teams within a fast-paced environment.
Strong understanding of profit & loss management in distribution operations.
Extensive knowledge of supply chain principles, logistics strategies, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems like AS400, and process improvement methodologies.
Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and managing shipping & receiving operations.
Skilled in the use of forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment; relevant certifications are desirable.
Demonstrated ability to lead process optimisation projects using continuous improvement techniques such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Excellent organisational skills with a focus on efficiency, safety compliance, and team leadership. This role is ideal for a proactive professional committed to streamlining distribution processes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation’s supply chain network.
FLUENT DUTCH AND ENGLISH WRITTEN AND SPOKEN LANGUAGE ESSENTIAL

Pay: £42,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
