Full job description

We are recruiting for an Emergency Medical Technician – Acute Medical Services who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will be trained to achieve a high level of practical skills for use within the Acute Medical Services - shared across AMU/SDEC/SSU. On completion of your training programme, it is anticipated that you will be capable of undertaking the following duties: Baseline Observations, Application of Support/Splintage, Cardiac Monitoring, Venepuncture, BLS, Wound Care & Suturing.

Assisting the nursing staff in maintaining a safe environment and delivering a high standard of patient care.

Base line observations, Application of support/splintage, Cardiac monitoring, Venepuncture, Basic Life Support of the adult (including automated external defibrillation) and child. Wound toilet and suturing, Techniques of wound closure.

This role will require working across AMU, SDEC, and Short Stay Unit

To be fully conversant with a wide range of Health and Safety issues.

In addition to the various clinical skills Technicians will be expected to learn the basic layout and the functioning of the medical equipment
