Full job description

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse to support and help lead our Inpatient Unit Team.

We are Garden House Hospice Care, the Hospice for North Hertfordshire. We are a multi award-winning hospice that puts the patient at the heart of everything we do. Patients on our inpatient unit are looked after by our specialist team 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We provide support and care to patients with a wide range of symptoms associated with a life-limiting illness, as well as their families. We support our patients by providing symptom control, psychological support and end of life care. Our high nurse-to-patient ratio ensures that patients are able to get the dedicated support that they might need.

What does Nursing Team Leader role involve?

The main duties and responsibilities include:

To provide a high-quality specialist palliative care service to patients with a life limiting illness and to provide care and support for relatives and carers on the Inpatient Unit.
To support the IPU Manager in team leadership, ensuring optimum care standards for patients and families.
To develop and maintain effective relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure collaborative working for the benefit of patient care
To act as a role model and promote excellence in nursing practice
Utilise your experience and specialist knowledge of palliative care to deliver appropriate symptom control, care and medication within agreed Hospice Guidelines, and support team members to develop these skills in practice

What skills do I need?

Current NMC Registration and the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
Experience of team and ward management
Experience of multidisciplinary team working
Ability to motivate a team and take initiative when appropriate
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

This is a Full Time role for 37.5 hours a week.
