Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant / Tandoor Helper to join our vibrant culinary team. This role involves supporting the kitchen operations, assisting with meal and food preparation, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and food service, with a keen eye for safety and hygiene standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a busy restaurant setting, working alongside experienced chefs and kitchen staff.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients for various dishes.
- Support the cooking process, particularly in operating the tandoor oven and other kitchen equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing utensils, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times.
- Help in serving food to customers when required, ensuring prompt and courteous service.
- Assist with stock management by monitoring inventory levels and notifying supervisors of supplies needed.
- Support the team during busy periods by preparing ingredients in advance and maintaining a smooth workflow.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of meal preparation, food safety practices, and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Familiarity with food preparation techniques and culinary processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to food preparation and serving.
- Prior experience working with tandoor ovens or in Indian cuisine is advantageous but not mandatory.
