Full job description

About the Role

A structured syllabus is provided and classes work towards performances throughout the year. The role will involve:

Teaching songs, choreography and acting pieces to our youngest students
Preparing students confidently for performances
Developing stage presence and performance skills in an age-appropriate way
Creating engaging, imaginative and well-structured classes for young children

Duties

Leading and delivering engaging Early Years Musical Theatre sessions
Teaching set songs, dances and scripted/acting material
Creating a warm, nurturing and structured learning environment
Building children’s confidence, creativity and teamwork
Managing classroom behaviour positively and effectively
Communicating professionally with parents and the Swish team

Ideal Candidate

Essential:

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Extremely reliable and punctual - able to commit consistently to the regular Saturday position
Confident leading a class independently (with the support or a TA)
Confident to direct assistants to best support you
Positive, enthusiastic and encouraging teaching style
Experience working with children

Desirable:

Experience in a similar lead teaching role within a performing arts capacity
Professional qualification (or working towards) in Performing Arts, Musical Theatre, Dance or Teaching
Safeguarding and First Aid awareness
Driver with own car

Job Details

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent
Contract Type: Self-employed
Rate: Starting from £25 per hour, negotiable for the right candidate
Payment: Made monthly, immediately upon receipt of invoice
Location: Walhampton School, Lymington (in person)
