Salary: Dependent on Experience

About the Role

Our family run business is looking for a Fishmonger to join our award-winning fish counter team. Previous experience in a fishmonger's or a similar role is essential. This is a physically demanding position that requires someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.

Weekend availability is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Setting up and closing down of the fish counter.
Preparing and processing fish, including gutting, scaling, and filleting.
Food preparation and safe food handling.
Basic cooking and product preparation.
Preparing and packing online customer orders.
Handling and caring for live shellfish.
Taking part in markets to promote our products.
Carrying out off-site work as required.
Working independently when necessary.
Cash handling and operating the till.
Providing excellent customer service at all times.
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience as a fishmonger or in a similar role.
Competent fish preparation skills, including gutting, scaling, and filleting.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Weekend availability.
Good communication and people skills.
Reliable, hardworking, and physically fit, with the ability to undertake manual handling and stand for extended periods.

Desirable Skills

Full UK driving licence.
Strong knife skills.
Experience handling live shellfish.
Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
Experience working at external markets or off-site locations.
