Full job description

Contract Type: Permanent / Full Time
Hours of work: 39 hours per week

About the Role
As a Deli Manager, you’ll lead our deli operation to deliver outstanding service and high-quality fresh food to our customers every day. You’ll be responsible for managing the deli team, driving sales, maintaining excellent food safety standards, and ensuring the department is always welcoming, well-stocked, and presented to the highest standard.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll inspire your team, support their development, and create a positive environment that keeps customers coming back.

Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing
Your role will be varied, fast-paced, and people-focused, including:

Leading, motivating, and developing the deli team on a daily basis
Delivering excellent customer service and creating a friendly shopping experience
Preparing, baking, and presenting our range of fresh deli products to a high standard
Managing stock control, ordering, waste, and product availability
Driving sales opportunities and maintaining strong product knowledge across the team
Ensuring compliance with food safety, allergen awareness, labelling, and hygiene standards
Monitoring department performance and maintaining high operational standards
Planning team rotas and supporting with training and onboarding
Keeping counters, displays, equipment, and work areas clean, safe, and sanitised at all times
Leading by example and supporting wider store operations where needed

A Few Things About You
We’re looking for a confident and enthusiastic leader who is passionate about food, customer service, and developing people. Ideally, you will also be:

Friendly, approachable, and an excellent communicator
An experienced people manager with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
Organised and dependable, with strong attention to detail
Customer-focused, with a passion for delivering high standards
Flexible and able to thrive in a busy retail environment
Experienced in food retail, hospitality, or a similar fast-paced environment
Knowledgeable in food safety and hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene would be an advantage, but training can be provided)
Comfortable managing stock, waste, and department performance
