Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to oversee our logistics and transportation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain processes, ensuring efficient delivery of goods, maintaining compliance with safety standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transportation activities of our 4 trucks, including shipping, receiving, and distribution across multiple sites.
- Manage and optimise transportation management systems (TMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Supervise logistics staff, including drivers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Monitor profit & loss statements related to transportation operations, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Coordinate with supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of shipping schedules with production plans.
- Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety standards across all transportation activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the proper use of forklift equipment and adherence to shipping & receiving protocols.
- Analyse data from AS400 systems and other platforms to optimise routes, reduce transit times, and improve overall service levels.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in logistics workflows, leveraging industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory movements, and related documentation.
Experience
- Proven supervising experience within a logistics environment.
- Extensive knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS)
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles, shipping & receiving procedures, and warehouse operations.
- Experience working with providers and managing third-party logistics relationships.
- Demonstrated ability in process improvement initiatives within a logistics or setting.
- Strong people skills and a good sense of humour is desirable.
- Event transport background is preferred
Pay: £28,741.24-£51,229.69 per year
