Oracle Database Administrator
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a team player to join the Bank during a period of significant growth. We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to work within the dedicated IT Development team in Northwich.

About the role
This role will support and develop the Bank’s Oracle database estate, helping to deliver secure, resilient and high-performing data platforms across business-critical systems. The role will include administration of Oracle databases and the Linux platforms they run on. Responsibilities will include:
- Monitor database health, availability, capacity and performance, using proactive alerting and trend analysis to identify issues before they affect service.
- Perform maintenance operations on Oracle databases to ensure stable, secure and efficient database operations.
- Support backups, migrations, restores and environment refreshes for Oracle databases, including Oracle APEX applications.
- Recover corrupted or lost data in test and production systems from backups.
- Develop, manage and test database backup and recovery plans, ensuring documented processes are in place and regularly reviewed.
- Analyse and manage capacity and performance of Oracle application databases, working closely with application development and infrastructure teams.
- Promote and maintain data security, auditability and regulatory compliance across Oracle database environments.
- Support database patching, upgrades, lifecycle management and planned changes in line with change control processes.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting or appropriate tooling to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies that support secure, resilient and high-performing data platforms.
- Maintenance of operational systems may be required outside of normal business hours.

Technical requirements:
Essential:
- Oracle Database administration experience, preferably Oracle 19c or later, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, monitoring, patching, security and high-availability support.
- Oracle Enterprise Manager maintenance, monitoring and implementation experience.
- Oracle WebLogic maintenance and implementation experience.
- Knowledge of computer networks and protocols, including Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
- Performance tuning and optimisation skills.
- Familiarity with enterprise backup, recovery and data protection architectures.
Desirable:
- Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems or comparable enterprise database platforms.
- Exposure to virtualised or private cloud infrastructure.
- Experience supporting high-availability, resilience or disaster recovery environments.
- Experience automating database administration activities using scripting, scheduling or operational tooling.
- Training and development will be supported for candidates with strong core Oracle DBA experience and the ability to develop knowledge of the Bank’s database infrastructure environment.
