Production Shift Supervisor
Due to ongoing company growth, we are seeking an experienced Production Shift Supervisor to join our team at Mallows Bottling. Founded in 2021, Mallows Bottling has fast become a key player in the UK spirits scene, with over 30 product and business awards to its name. We have recently expanded to producing soft drinks, too. Our contract bottling production facility is situated in Coedely, Rhondda Cynon Taf. Here we create our brands as well as contract bottling for customers from across the UK - we are a BRCGS AA site.

THE ROLE:
The Production Shift supervisor role is a working supervisor to operate and oversee the manufacturing of products within our production facility. You will manage the production staff and work to ensure the processes and procedures are being met.
The working pattern for this role is 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, alternating on a weekly basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE CAPABILITIES:
- Supervise and support Production Operators and Senior Production Operators to ensure production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are achieved.
- Lead production activities to ensure the daily production plan is completed safely, efficiently and on time.
- Ensure production and packaging equipment is operated in accordance with product specifications, SOPs and company procedures.
- Verify production lines are correctly set up and prepared prior to commencement of production, including line clearances, materials, labels and documentation.
- Monitor production performance and take appropriate action to minimise downtime, product loss, material wastage and inefficiencies.
- Ensure machinery is operated at optimum performance levels whilst maintaining product quality and food safety standards.
- Maintain high standards of GMP, hygiene, housekeeping and health & safety throughout the production areas.
- Ensure all quality, food safety and production checks are completed accurately, reviewed and signed off in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure product specifications, work instructions and quality standards are followed at all times.
- Identify, investigate and escalate quality, food safety, equipment, process or safety concerns and implement immediate corrective actions where appropriate.
- Ensure production records, quality documentation, traceability records and associated paperwork are completed accurately and within required timescales.
- Complete and maintain production KPI records and communicate performance information to management.
- Support the investigation of non-conformances, customer complaints and production issues and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Train, coach and develop Production Operators and Senior Production Operators to ensure competence and adherence to company standards.
- Conduct effective shift handovers and communicate production, quality, safety and operational issues between shifts.
- Act as the first point of contact for operational issues during the shift and escalate concerns to management where necessary.
- Promote a positive culture of safety, food safety, quality, accountability and continuous improvement throughout the production team.
- Remain competent in all operator and senior operator duties and provide hands-on support to production activities as required.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have experience of manufacturing in FMCG
- Have proven experience of team management, successfully coaching & developing staff to achieve their goals, ideally with alcohol and/or a contract bottler
- Be numerate and articulate
- Have leadership skills
- Be detail orientated
- Be IT literate
- Have good communication skills, both written & verbal
- Have the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
