To support and assist the Operational Services Team Managers and Head of Portering in providing an efficient and robust Portering, Post Room and Concourse Reception across the UHB Sites.
To lead the day to day operational management of the Portering department based in the University hospital of Wales, but multisite cover will be required. Providing excellent service delivery to both staff, patients and external visitors, acting as first point of contact for the four key areas above and responding accordingly to telephone, email and face to face enquiries as they occur.
To supervise the Portering team across UHB wide, acting as line managers for staff whilst on duty and undertaking relevant Human Resources tasks such as recruitment, induction, role specific training, sickness management, annual leave allocations, rostering management and annual appraisals.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service. 12 months from the start date. I f you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Act as first point of contact for the three key areas (Portering, Post Room, and Concourse Reception) and responding accordingly to telephone,email and face to face enquiries in a polite, professional and timely manner.
To manage the operational service delivery of the Portering department, allocating tasks to Porters clearly and concisely, delegating tasks appropriately and analysing which tasks need to be given priority.
To deal with and resolve day to day operational issues for the three departments, using initiative where possible to identify solutions, and escalating queries or concerns to the Team Manager and Head of Portering, as necessary.
