Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor/Alteration Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing alterations and repairs on a variety of garments, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for tailoring and garment fitting to develop their skills within a professional environment.

Duties

Altering and repairing garments to meet client specifications, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and replacing zippers or buttons
Fitting clients and providing expert advice on garment adjustments for optimal fit and comfort
Operating industrial sewing machines , overlocker, coverstitch and other tailoring equipment safely and efficiently
Managing multiple alteration orders simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
Ensuring all work is completed within specified timeframes and to high standards of quality
Maintaining a clean, organised workspace and adhering to health and safety regulations

Requirements

Proven experience as a tailor or alteration specialist
Excellent knowledge of sewing techniques, fabrics, patterns, and garment construction
Ability to interpret customer requests accurately and communicate effectively about possible alterations or repairs
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Attention to detail and precision in all aspects of tailoring work
Flexibility to adapt to different garment types and customer needs
Basic proficiency with sewing machines, pressing equipment, and hand sewing tools
A professional attitude with excellent customer service skills
