Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and organised Account Manager to support the management of client accounts and financial operations within the practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial records, managing accounting processes, supporting compliance requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
The role requires strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client accounts effectively within a fast-paced accountancy practice environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Management
- Managing a portfolio of client accounts and maintaining accurate financial records
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial reports
- Assisting with bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns and supporting HMRC compliance requirements
- Supporting payroll processing and maintaining payroll-related records where required
- Monitoring accounts payable, accounts receivable, and client financial transactions
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and liaising with senior accountants and external stakeholders
- Analysing financial information and identifying discrepancies or areas requiring attention
- Maintaining accounting documentation and ensuring records are updated accurately
- Supporting audit preparation activities and responding to financial information requests
Client Relationship Management
- Acting as a point of contact for clients regarding accounting and financial queries
- Building and maintaining professional relationships with clients
- Assisting clients with accounting software usage and financial documentation requirements
- Coordinating with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of accounting services
- Providing practical support and guidance to clients on routine accounting matters
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures, accounting standards, and HMRC regulations
- Reviewing accounting processes and identifying opportunities for operational improvements
- Assisting with implementation of accounting systems and process enhancements
- Supporting the practice in maintaining high standards of financial accuracy and client service
Skills & Experience Required
- AAT, ACCA, CIMA, Finance Graduate, or equivalent accounting qualification/experience
- Experience working within an accountancy practice or finance environment
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and financial reporting processes
- Good knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
- Professional approach to client communication and financial confidentiality
Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
