We are seeking an experienced Group Exercise Coordinator to join the tmactive team. The role will initially be based at Larkfield Leisure Centre, with involvement in the development of a new group exercise programme for the Angel Centre, scheduled to open in 2028.
Working in partnership with the Health and Fitness Manager, the Group Exercise Coordinator will support the planning, organisation and delivery of the group exercise programme. Key responsibilities include coordinating Group Exercise Instructors, managing the programme within agreed budgets, and ensuring the provision of a consistent, high-quality offering that meets defined performance and service standards.
The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a positive customer experience across all group exercise activities. This is a permanent position, with working hours arranged on a rota basis in line with operational requirements. There may be occasions where the post holder is required to deliver classes.
Applicants must hold a valid Exercise to Music qualification. Experience in developing, implementing and managing group exercise programmes, ideally within a new facility, is desirable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
In liaison with the Health & Fitness Managers, support the proactive planning, coordination and management the Group Exercise Programme both at Larkfield Leisure Centre and the new Angel Centre. Central to the coordination of the Group Exercise Instructors, deliver the programme within agreed budgets to provide a consistent, high quality programme.
To ensure an excellent customer experience is delivered which meets all specified quality and performance standards. Responsible for ensuring the continuous improvement of the programme whilst working with stakeholders to establish a service that reaches a cross-section of groups in the local area to ensure increased participation and wellbeing within the community.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
1. Manage the development and maintenance of Group Exercise schedule, taking into account factors such as participant preferences, instructor availability, and facility resources.
2. Working with the Health & Fitness Manager promote exercise classes to attract participants, encourage registration, and maintain attendance levels through effective communication and marketing strategies.
3. Coordinate with facility management to secure appropriate spaces for classes, ensuring they are clean, safe, and equipped with necessary amenities and equipment.
4. Monitor class attendance, gather participant feedback, and evaluate instructor performance to identify areas for improvement and enhance overall program quality.
5. Ensure that exercise classes adhere to safety guidelines, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, implementing appropriate protocols for emergencies or incidents.
6. Ensure all classes are appropriately staffed in terms of holiday/sickness cover to minimise class cancellations. It may be necessary for the Group Exercise Coordinator to deliver classes on an ad hoc basis.
7. Support the Health & Fitness Manager participant registrations and dishonoured bookings, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
8. Be demonstrative at ‘front of house’ to ensure highest standards of service delivery including customer service and cleanliness. Liaise and interact with customers and respond to queries regarding the site programme.
9. Liaise with the Health & Fitness manager and Marketing Team to coordinate promotions, events and launches utilising social media. Collaborate with instructors to develop new class formats, themes, or special events to meet the evolving needs and interests of participants.
10. Aid the Health & Fitness Manager in the effective recruitment, appointment, training, development, induction, performance and wellbeing of staff, whilst demonstrating awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
11. Put in place a regular plan of communication for all Group Instructors regarding studio programme, feedback, class cover and any other relevant information. Conduct an annual Group Exercise Instructor meeting.
12. Foster and develop effective communications and positive working relationships at site and across the Trust, including promoting the existing collaborative working culture and environment within the organisation.
13. Where required, support the delivery of the Health & Wellbeing strategy action plan.
14. On occasion, you may be required to work across the Trust sites to assist with the delivery of our Group Exercise schedule.
