We are looking for a skilled, quality-focused CNC Sawyer to join our worktop fabrication team in York. You’ll be operating our Donatoni Jet bridge saw to cut and process granite, marble and quartz worktops to an exacting standard. If you take pride in precision, low waste and a clean, well-run workshop, we’d like to hear from you.
The Role
As our Sawyer you’ll be at the heart of production – turning slabs, drawings and templates into beautifully finished bespoke worksurfaces. You’ll work closely with the Production Manager and the wider team to keep quality high and deadlines on track.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operate and set the Donatoni Jet bridge saw to cut granite, marble and quartz to specification
- Interpret drawings, templates and cutting lists for accurate, low-waste cutting
- Plan slab layouts to make the most of each piece and protect veined or patterned material
- Fabricate stone worksurfaces to a consistently high finish
- Lift, move and store slabs safely and securely using the correct equipment
- Carry out routine machine checks and keep tooling and the saw area in good order
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times
About You – Essential
- Proven hands-on experience fabricating stone worktops (minimum 2 years)
- Experience operating a CNC bridge saw – a Donatoni, or a comparable machine you can quickly convert from
- Confident reading drawings, templates and cutting lists
- Dependable, organised and a strong timekeeper
- Committed to health & safety, including safe slab handling and dust control
- Full UK driving licence
Nice to Have – Desirable
- Direct experience on a Donatoni Jet (or Jet625)
- Familiarity with router and/or waterjet processing
- Awareness of RCS (respirable crystalline silica) controls and best practice
Hours
- Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm (8-hour shifts)
- Overtime and occasional weekend work available
What We Offer
- Basic salary from £32,000 per year – negotiable depending on experience
- Overtime, plus a performance-related yearly bonus (non-contractual)
