International Media Relations Executive – 12 month FTC

The Role:
This influential role leads on Manchester United’s international media relations. It is a fast‑paced, highly collaborative strategic role, responsible for delivering world‑class global media and PR activity, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring our communications work enhances the visibility, profile, and reputation of our players, staff, and teams.
The role has accountability for developing and executing international communications strategies, proactively developing and managing relationships with global media outlets, and supporting media operations with a particular focus on international and non-English speakers with their media obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible and accountable for establishing and developing strong relationships with key international media, broadcasters and journalists and relevant stakeholders to create alignment with the wider club communications approach
- Support in the delivery of media rights obligations and discretionary access for Men’s, Women’s and Academy activities, including the coordination and staging of interviews, press conferences, and media events, with a particular focus on international players and non-English speakers

Deliver approaches that actively grow and diversify our audience, deepening connection with existing fans/attracting new supporters and growing the profile of our players
- Develop creative and engaging communications approaches to non-endemic international media, for both proactive and reactive campaigns.
- Support at the majority of Men’s home and away fixtures, with significant responsibilities within UEFA competitions
- Produce clear, compelling written materials, including press releases, features, briefings, and messaging documents for internal and external audiences.
- Monitor international media and social media to provide considered advice and guidance, identify trends, flag risks, and support proactive and reactive communications.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including content, marketing, commercial, and Foundation colleagues, to ensure aligned and integrated communications activity that meets wider club objectives.
- Evaluate and report on activity, campaigns and approach, informing and guiding internal decision making and external narrative.
The Person:
- Additional languages are required, proficient French, Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferable
- Relevant experience in communications, PR, and/or media, experience within elite sport or football is a strong advantage.
- Excellent understanding of the global sports media landscape, including key journalists, platforms, and audience expectations.
- Proven track record of establishing strategic relationships with key external stakeholders
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and editorial judgement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across a complex organisation and communicate confidently with multiple stakeholders
