Engagement Manager (Policy@Manchester)
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as an Engagement Manager within Policy@Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-impact programme connecting world-leading research with policymakers, shaping evidence-informed decision-making. You will play a key role in delivering communications, events, and partnerships that influence policy at local and national levels.
You will be responsible for:

Leading and managing a specialist policy engagement team, setting clear objectives and supporting delivery

Building and maintaining relationships with policymakers, academics, and key external stakeholders
-
Delivering a strategic programme of policy communications, including publications, briefings, and digital content
-
Horizon scanning to identify emerging policy opportunities and challenges
-
Planning and delivering high-profile events, including political party conferences and stakeholder engagement activities

About You

Essential Criteria

Strong understanding of UK policy-making processes, including parliament and local government

Experience of leading or managing teams and delivering complex projects

Excellent communication skills, including writing and editing engaging content for non-expert audiences

Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making
-
Experience delivering events or engagement programmes involving multiple stakeholders
Desirable Criteria

Knowledge of UK politics and current affairs
-
Experience working within higher education, research, or public affairs
-
Experience delivering multi-channel communications or campaigns
-
Experience evaluating impact and using data to inform decision-making
-
Experience representing an organisation externally through presentations or events
