Full job description

Background

Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum Trust Ltd is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. It is managed by an independent Chief Executive Officer, Nikki Burton Mallott and a Board of Trustees who are responsible for the overall governance of the charity.

Catalyst’s mission is to inform, educate and inspire, the widest audience about the relevance of chemistry, through:

•* our unique offerings and hands-on experiences*

•* our rich industrial heritage archives*

•* our strong links to the local area*

Tasks and Responsibilities

•* Production of monthly management accounts including narrative and comparison to budget *

•* Improved and simplified core financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow)*

•* Improved and simplified annual budgeting tools, linked to the financial statements to speed up analysis and comparisons across budget scenarios*

•* Liaising with the independent examiners*

•* Preparation of statutory accounts*

•* Work with Finance Administrator as needed *

Hours

Free lance basis

20-30 hours per month dependent on tasks

Attendance to Finance and Risk Committee Meetings (4 per year, usually Wednesday afternoons)

Attendance to Board Meetings (5 per year, usually Tuesday or Thursday evenings)

Other

This role is supported by Finance Administrator who manages booking keeping including bank reconciliation, managing debtors and creditors, posting to Xero.

Qualifications

Proven experience in financial management or accounting roles preferably in the charity sector
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.

Pay: £29.00 per hour
