We are seeking an experienced and reliable Sheet Laser Operator to join our growing fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating Amada sheet laser machinery, ideally including automated tower systems, within a fast-paced sheet metal manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on role requiring a high level of attention to detail, machine knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently to production deadlines while maintaining excellent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Amada sheet laser machines safely and efficiently.
- Operate and manage automated tower loading/unloading systems where applicable.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and production specifications.
- Ensure accurate cutting of stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium materials.
- Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as required.
- Carry out routine quality checks on finished components.
- Load and unload sheet materials using forklift trucks.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and carry out basic preventative maintenance.
- Work closely with production and programming teams to meet deadlines.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating sheet laser machines in a fabrication environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Amada sheet lasers.
- Experience operating automated tower systems is highly desirable.
- Valid Forklift Truck Licence is essential.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
- Experience with CNC programming or nesting software.
- Overhead crane experience (advantageous).
