Area Sales Manager HVAC / Building Services

Location: North Region, M62 Corridor and surrounding areas
Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 basic
Bonus: 15% at target, up to 30%
Benefits: EV company car, full corporate benefits package
Working pattern: Home-based with regular field travel

We are looking for an experienced Area Sales Manager to manage and grow a Northern sales territory across the M62 corridor and surrounding areas.

This is a strong opportunity for someone already selling into the HVAC, building services, M&E contractor or distributor market who wants to move into a high-growth manufacturer with a realistic bonus structure, strong product range and genuine market momentum.

You will be joining a major European manufacturer of pumps and pump systems for commercial building services and industrial applications. The business has a major UK presence, a strong sustainability position and is gaining share in a competitive market.

The role

As Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing sales across your region. You will work closely with M&E contractors, HVAC contractors, distributors, consultants and specifiers to identify projects, influence specifications and convert opportunities through distribution.

The role is a mix of account management, business development and project-led sales. Some orders will move quickly, while larger commercial projects may involve a longer sales cycle, multiple quote revisions and value engineering stages.

You will be home-based and expected to spend regular time in front of customers across the territory.

Key responsibilities

Managing and developing relationships with HVAC and building services distributors, including national and independent branches.
Building strong relationships with M&E contractors, HVAC contractors and key regional customers.
Identifying project opportunities across commercial and industrial building services.
Working with an internal estimating team to secure quotations and follow up opportunities.
Influencing consultants and specifiers, including delivering CPD sessions where required.
Growing existing accounts while also reactivating lapsed customers and winning market share from competitors.
Managing a mix of day-to-day distribution business and longer-term project sales.
Maintaining regular visibility in the market through customer visits, meetings and appropriate customer entertainment.

Typical project sectors

You will be selling into a range of commercial and industrial building services projects, including:

Hospitals and healthcare
Data centres
Education
Hotels and leisure
Prisons
Multi-residential developments
Stadia and arenas
Commercial buildings

Candidate requirements

You should already have external sales experience within HVAC, building services or a closely related technical product area.

We are open on exact product background, but you are likely to come from one of the following:

Pump manufacturers
HVAC manufacturers
Boilers, heat pumps, AHUs, AC, valves, fittings, pipework or related products
Building services distributors
M&E or HVAC contractor supply chain sales

Must-haves

Proven field sales experience within HVAC, M&E, building services or a related technical market.
Regular contact with M&E contractors, HVAC contractors or building services distributors.
Strong account management and business development ability.
Comfortable managing both fast-moving orders and longer project-led sales cycles.
Commercially confident, organised and able to follow up opportunities properly.
Based within reasonable reach of the North Region and M62 corridor.

Nice-to-haves

Direct pump experience.

Existing relationships with distributors such as Wolseley, BSS, Smith Brothers, AJH or similar.

Experience delivering CPDs, lunch-and-learns or technical presentations.

Existing consultant or specifier relationships.

Package

Basic salary of £50,000 to £55,000.

Up to £60,000 basic for an outstanding candidate with strong relevant experience and relationships.

Bonus of 15% at target.

Bonus capped at 30% for overachievement.

EV company car, currently a Tesla with lease remaining.

Full corporate benefits package.

Home-based role with field travel.
