HMS, part of Torus Group, is looking for an experienced Painter and Decorator to join our Planned Projects team, delivering a high-quality construction and maintenance service across the North West region. Working as part of an integrated team, you’ll carry out a wide range of internal and external painting and decorating works in customers’ homes and properties, ensuring excellent standards of workmanship, customer care, and service delivery.
What you’ll be doing:

Carrying out all aspects of painting and decorating work, including internal and external works, paper hanging, artexing, and remedial repairs

Undertaking associated trade duties such as basic plastering and joinery to support a one job, one visit service

Planning and organising your workload efficiently, making effective use of time, materials, transport, and equipment

Working within scheduled appointment systems and liaising with customers and colleagues to complete works successfully

Supervising and supporting apprentices, trainees, or other employees when required

Completing diagnostic and pre-measuring work to identify repair requirements

Using IT and communication systems to receive instructions, complete work orders, and order materials

Completing all required documentation accurately and on time
-
Driving company vehicles safely and maintaining stock, tools, and equipment
-
Managing materials responsibly to minimise waste and ensure value for money

Ensuring all work meets required quality, customer care, and performance standards

Following all health and safety procedures and reporting any incidents or concerns
What we’re looking for:
-
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Painting & Decorating or a related discipline

Valid CSCS card at the appropriate level
-
Full UK or EU driving licence
-
Completed a time-served apprenticeship
-
Proven experience in painting and decorating within maintenance and construction environments
-
Strong customer care skills and a professional approach when working in customers’ homes
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervisio
-
A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to support continuous service improvement
-
Good communication skills with customers and colleagues
-
Experience supervising or supporting apprentices
Interview Process:

Candidates will undergo in-person interviews, consisting of a competency-based interview. Interviews will take place at our Sutton Fold Office, week commencing 18th May 2026.
