Role Overview
The Aventive Group is looking for an experienced Senior Audio Technician to join our growing technical production team in Manchester.
This is a senior, hands-on position focused on delivering high-quality audio solutions for conferences, awards ceremonies, product launches, exhibitions, and hybrid events across the UK and internationally.
The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise with d&b audiotechnik systems and Yamaha digital mixing consoles, alongside excellent client-facing skills and the ability to lead freelance crew and junior technicians on-site.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Preparation
- Prepare, test, and maintain professional audio equipment prior to dispatch
- Build and check complete audio systems, including PA, wireless microphones, playback, and networking
- Produce and verify equipment lists, signal flow diagrams, and system layouts
- Ensure all equipment is packed accurately and ready for delivery
Event Delivery
- Lead the setup, configuration, and operation of audio systems for corporate events and conferences
- Deploy and optimise d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker systems using ArrayCalc and R1
- Operate Allen and Health, Yamaha QL and CL series digital mixing consoles
- Configure and manage wireless microphone systems, RF coordination, and Dante audio networking
- Deliver hybrid event audio feeds for live streaming, video conferencing, and recording
- Mix keynote presentations, panel discussions, awards shows, and playback content
- Set up stage plots, monitor systems, and input lists for live bands and entertainment
- Carry out soundchecks and confidently mix live bands to a high professional standard
- Lead de-rig and ensure all equipment is safely packed and returned
Team Leadership
- Supervise freelance technicians and junior staff on-site
- Delegate tasks and maintain high technical standards
- Support and mentor developing technicians
- Coordinate with project managers and other departments including video, lighting, and staging
Client & Venue Liaison
- Work directly with clients, presenters, artists, and venue technical teams
- Provide professional support during rehearsals and live events
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and calmly under pressure
Health & Safety
- Follow company and venue safety procedures at all times
- Ensure safe working practices during load-in, operation, and de-rig
- This is a physically demanding role. Candidates must be comfortable and confident lifting, moving, and loading equipment safely in accordance with manual handling guidelines
What We’re Looking For ...The Essentials
- Proven experience as a Senior Audio Technician in corporate event production
- Strong practical knowledge of d&b systems and Yamaha digital consoles
- Demonstrable experience setting up and mixing live bands and entertainment acts
- Excellent understanding of speech reinforcement and conference audio best practice
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Professional and confident client-facing manner
- Ability to lead teams and work effectively under pressure
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Working Hours
Standard working hours are typically:
- Shifts between the hours of 07:00 – 19:00 (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
- Monday to Friday
Due to the nature of live events, flexibility is essential and will include:
- Early starts
- Late finishes
- Weekend working
- Overnight stays
- International travel
