The Business & Regulatory Research Analyst will undertake structured business, regulatory, market and industry research relevant to ValueLegal's HRTech and RegTech activities.
The role will involve researching and evaluating regulatory developments, government and industry information, market trends and employer requirements; analysing their potential implications for the Company and its target market; and converting complex information into clear research reports, regulatory intelligence, impact assessments and evidence-based recommendations.
The successful candidate will have strong research and analytical capabilities, an interest in regulatory and compliance environments, and the ability to communicate complex research findings clearly to business, compliance and technology stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured business and regulatory research relevant to ValueLegal's HRTech, RegTech and workforce-compliance environment.
- Research, collect, evaluate and synthesise information from government publications, regulatory materials, policy documents, industry sources, academic research and market intelligence.
- Monitor relevant UK regulatory, policy, business and industry developments and identify matters requiring further research or analysis.
- Analyse research findings to identify trends, risks, opportunities and potential business implications for ValueLegal and its target market.
- Prepare professional research reports, regulatory briefings, analytical papers, research summaries and impact assessments.
- Conduct qualitative and comparative research into HR, workforce and employer-compliance requirements, industry developments and emerging regulatory challenges.
- Undertake market, industry and competitor research to support the Company's understanding of its commercial and regulatory environment.
- Research the needs, operational challenges and emerging requirements of UK employers relevant to HR technology, workforce management and regulatory compliance.
- Develop appropriate research methodologies and approaches for assigned business and regulatory research projects.
- Evaluate and synthesise research evidence to produce clear, evidence-based findings, conclusions and recommendations.
- Maintain structured research records, source references, regulatory intelligence and supporting research documentation.
- Identify relevant regulatory and market developments that may affect the Company's business, customers or technology platform.
- Provide research intelligence to support business strategy, product strategy and development priorities.
- Conduct research into market and regulatory requirements that may inform future product functionality and compliance-related technology development.
- Prepare and present research findings and recommendations to management and relevant internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with management, HR/compliance and technology stakeholders where specialist business or regulatory research is required.
- Maintain ongoing awareness of developments across the HRTech, RegTech, SaaS and UK workforce-compliance landscape and identify areas requiring further investigation.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Business Management, International Business, Management, Economics, Law, Public Policy, Research, Compliance, Regulation or another closely related discipline.
- Strong academic or professional grounding in research, analysis and evidence-based decision-making.
- Demonstrable ability to research, evaluate, interpret and synthesise complex business, regulatory or policy information.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking capability.
- Excellent written communication and professional report-writing skills.
- Ability to produce structured research findings, conclusions and evidence-based recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate research and source documentation.
- Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Business, Management, International Business, Economics, Law, Public Policy, Compliance, Regulation, Research or another relevant discipline.
- Relevant professional training or certification in business research, regulatory research, compliance, business analysis, research methodology or related areas.
- Professional training or certification relating to UK regulatory, HR, workforce or employer compliance, where relevant.
- Relevant professional development concerning UK immigration regulation or employer sponsorship compliance, where applicable to the candidate's professional background.

ValueLegal is particularly interested in candidates who have a genuine interest in the intersection of business research, regulation and technology.
The successful candidate will contribute research and analytical evidence that can support the Company's understanding of regulatory developments, employer requirements, market opportunities and emerging industry trends.
An interest in product research, product strategy, SaaS, HRTech, RegTech and technology-enabled compliance solutions would therefore be advantageous.
The position is research-focused; the successful candidate will provide evidence and analysis to support decision-making rather than hold primary responsibility for product management.
