Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Bricklayer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying bricks, blocks, and other masonry units with precision and professionalism. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently on various building projects. The ideal applicant will possess strong knowledge of masonry techniques and be capable of working independently or as part of a team to deliver quality results.
Duties
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units according to project specifications and blueprints
- Prepare surfaces and foundations prior to bricklaying activities
- Use hand tools such as trowels, hammers, chisels, and levels to ensure accurate placement
- Operate power tools including mixers, drills, and cutting equipment safely and effectively
- Assist with the installation of structural elements such as lintels, arches, and facades
- Collaborate with carpenters, roofers, welders, and other tradespeople to ensure seamless project execution
- Maintain a clean and organised worksite by clearing debris and ensuring safety standards are met
- Inspect completed work for quality control and make necessary adjustments or repairs
Requirements
- Proven experience in bricklaying, masonry, or related construction roles
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools specific to bricklaying and masonry work
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices in construction
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Skills in carpentry, roofing, welding are advantageous but not essential
- Strong physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights if required
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Valid relevant qualifications or certifications in bricklaying or masonry preferred
