Accounts Assistant & Office Administrator
Reporting To: Finance Manager / Managing Director
Location: Derby, Littleover

- 9am - 5pm
- Monday - Friday
- Office based.

Role Overview
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant & Office Administrator to support the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the smooth running of general office administration activities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied workload and is comfortable managing both finance and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Duties
- Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders and partnerships.
- Process bookkeeping records using cloud accounting software.
- Maintain accurate client records and working papers.
- Liaise with clients to obtain accounting information and supporting documentation.
- Assist senior team members with client queries and ad hoc accounting assignments.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and accounting standards.
Office Administration Duties
- Answer incoming telephone calls and direct enquiries appropriately.
- Organise meetings, appointments, and meeting rooms.
- Maintain company records and administrative documentation.
- Support onboarding and administration of new clients.
- Support management with ad hoc administrative projects and tasks.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or Bookkeeping role.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Experience using accounting software (e.g. Zoho, Xero, QuickBooks, Dext, TaxCalc or similar).
- AAT qualification (or studying towards AAT). ????
- Experience in a small or medium-sized business environment.
- Experience combining finance and office administration responsibilities.
