The Paralegal will support the Legal team of a major provider of asset management services to local government pension schemes.
The role will provide legal, operational and administrative support across the Legal team's workstreams, helping to ensure that legal matters are well organised, documents are accurately maintained, legal processes operate effectively and internal stakeholders receive timely and professional support.
Legal team operations and matter management

Support the management and organisation of the Legal team's SharePoint site, filing structure and legal records.

Open, track and close legal matters on the Legal work-in-progress tracker or other matter management systems.

Support the development and maintenance of legal know-how, process notes, playbooks and templates.
Legal document support
-
Conduct legal research and prepare clear summaries of findings under supervision.

Prepare first drafts of routine legal documents, correspondence, NDAs, ancillary documents, execution instructions and related materials under supervision.

Review, proofread and check legal documentation.
- Support the management of document version control, document classification and accurate filing of executed and working documents.

Manage the execution of legal documentation by authorised signatories, predominantly through DocuSign or equivalent tools.

Support the administrative management of authorised signatory lists and authorised persons lists.

Support the administrative aspects of maintaining the prospectus for the Authorised Contractual Scheme.
External counsel and supplier support

Support the administrative aspects of appointing external lawyers, including engagement letters, panel processes and instruction records.

Assist with invoice checking against agreed scope and budget, and escalate any queries or inconsistencies.
Contract lifecycle and records management

Ensure executed contracts and key related documents are stored accurately and consistently.

Support template use, version control and the maintenance of standard form documents.

Assist with KYC requests relating to LGPS Central, the Alternatives Platform, LGPS Central funds and clients.
Confidentiality, privilege and regulated-firm expectations

Maintain confidentiality, legal professional privilege and appropriate information barriers when handling legal advice, transaction documents, governance materials and commercially sensitive information.

Desirable

Prior experience in financial services, investment funds, pensions, asset management, local government pension schemes or another regulated environment.

Experience using DocuSign, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, matter management tools, legal workflow tools or other legal technology.

Experience supporting contract lifecycle management, legal operations, procurement processes or external counsel administration.

Awareness of FCA Conduct Rules and the standards expected in an FCA-regulated firm.

Experience preparing first drafts of routine legal documents or correspondence under supervision.
Legal qualification or progress towards legal qualification is desirable but not essential. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Law degree, GDL/PGDL, LPC, SQE1/SQE2 or equivalent qualification or study.

Interest in qualifying as a solicitor.

Eligibility or willingness to pursue the SQE route.

Relevant paralegal, legal operations or in-house legal support experience.
