Job Summary
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sommelier to lead our wine service team and enhance our guests’ dining experience. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of wines, exceptional leadership skills, and a flair for hospitality. This role involves curating wine selections, training staff and ensuring the highest standards of service are maintained throughout the establishment.
Responsibilities
- Curate and manage wine lists, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection of wines that complements our changing menus.
- Lead, train and motivate our service team to deliver expert advice and exceptional customer service.
- Oversee wine tastings, staff education sessions and wine pairing recommendations for guests.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate food and wine pairings that elevates guests dining experience.
- Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety within the wine cellar and service areas.
- Assist in catering events and special functions requiring specialised wine service.
- Contribute to menu development by suggesting new wines based on current trends and guest preferences.
- Manage wine cellar inventory, ordering and correct storage
Skills
- Proven experience in hospitality and restaurant settings with a focus on wine service.
- Certification from CMS, WSET (level 3+) or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of wines, including tasting techniques, regions, vintages, and food pairings.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate team members effectively.
- Experience in serving guests professionally within high-end establishments.
- Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail in managing stock levels and cellar organisation.
- Excellent communication skills to engage warmly with diverse guests providing expert advice.
