Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Kitchen Shift Leader to oversee daily operations within our busy culinary environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for food preparation and service. As a Kitchen Shift Leader, you will be responsible for supervising team members, ensuring food safety standards are upheld, and maintaining a smooth workflow during your shift. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your management skills within a dynamic hospitality setting.

Duties

Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff during your designated shift to ensure efficient operation.
Oversee food production, ensuring quality standards and consistency are maintained throughout service.
Assist with food preparation and cooking as needed, setting an example for team members.
Manage the organisation of ingredients, supplies, and equipment to optimise workflow.
Enforce food safety regulations and hygiene standards in compliance with health and safety legislation.
Support team management by providing guidance, training, and motivation to staff members.
Monitor customer service levels during service times, ensuring a positive dining experience.
Collaborate with other departments such as front-of-house to ensure seamless service delivery.
Handle any operational issues promptly and effectively to minimise disruptions.

Experience

Proven supervising experience within a food production or hospitality environment.
Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations.
Experience in team management, demonstrating leadership qualities and the ability to motivate others.
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management.
Previous restaurant or catering experience is highly desirable.
Familiarity with hospitality services such as serving customers and managing busy shifts is advantageous.
A proactive approach with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail is essential for success in this role.

Pay: Up to £13.41 per hour
