Role: Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer ( Install and Reactive )
Location: Swindon / Bristol / Gloucester
- Salary: Up to £45,000
- Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week
- Typical Day: 8:00am – 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break
- Lunch Pay: If you work a 9-hour day, you will receive pay for the lunch hour at your normal rate
- Travel Time: Fully door-to-door
- On-Call Rota:
- 1 weekday per week
- 1 weekend in every 5
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer to join our team in the South West.
We are a respected, long-established building services organisation specialising in the commercial refrigeration and catering industry. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft, values long-term customer relationships, and enjoys working within a supportive and traditional company environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, service, maintenance and repair of a wide range of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, service, maintenance and repair works on a range of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems (including coldrooms, ice machines, bottle coolers, display units, VRV, VRF and split systems).
- Install new refrigeration and air conditioning equipment to a high standard, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry regulations.
- Diagnose faults and propose effective solutions.
- Commission newly installed equipment and verify system performance.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Participate in the on-call rota and respond to reactive calls as scheduled.
- Maintain accurate job records using company-issued phone or tablet (no tracking enabled).
- Visit the office as required to collect parts, restock vans, or unload equipment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in refrigeration and/or air conditioning installation, service and maintenance.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent).
- F-Gas Category 1 qualification.
- Strong installation and fault-finding skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good communication and customer-facing skills.
