Job Overview

Daytime server needed to work in a small totnes town cafe, serving customers on a till and preparing various hot and cold drinks throughout the day, also clearing tables and using a dishwasher you will be either opening up or closing down, so some work is unguided, totnes is a vibrant inclusive devon town, that is a pleasure to visit and work in. shifts are flexible and the successful applicant will need to have a happy smiley outlook that enjoys being customer facing.

Duties

Greet guests warmly and provide attentive service throughout their visit
Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems
Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining presentation standards
Ensure guest satisfaction by checking in regularly and addressing any needs or concerns
Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while respecting guest preferences
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of tables, service stations, and dining areas
Follow food safety protocols and hygiene standards at all times
Assist with food preparation or kitchen duties as required, adhering to health regulations
Handle cash or card transactions accurately and efficiently
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service flow during busy periods

Experience

Previous experience in hospitality, restaurant service, or similar roles is advantageous but not mandatory
Knowledge of food safety standards and basic food preparation techniques is preferred
Familiarity with serving procedures, upselling strategies, and guest services enhances performance
Ability to manage time effectively during busy shifts and prioritise tasks accordingly
Basic maths skills for handling bills and transactions are essential
Experience working in a kitchen environment or culinary background is a plus but not required
