Principle Duties
Boat Lifting & Yard Operations
· Assist with and operate the 40-tonne boat hoist and lifting equipment
· Carry out lifting operations including slinging, pressure washing, positioning, and chocking vessels ashore
· Undertake pre-lift checks including vessel condition, weight awareness, and safe lifting points
· Coordinate with team members and customers to ensure safe, efficient lift scheduling and turnaround
· Support towing and manoeuvring of vessels ashore and afloat using ropes and plant
· Maintain control of the yard to ensure safe DIY working practices by customers
· Monitor and intervene where unsafe work is being undertaken
Maintenance & DIY Support
· Carry out general maintenance and repairs to a DIY/trade standard including painting, minor repairs, and asset upkeep
· Ensure the site remain clean, organised, and safe for operations
· Identify and report defects in equipment, lifting gear, or infrastructure.
Marina Operations
· Opening and closing of dock gate and Ellenfoot bridge
· Assist with berthing and mooring of vessels
· Routine checks of boats, pontoons, and other assets
· Cleaning of site facilities including toilets, showers, office, hardstanding, and pontoons
· Monitoring CCTV and reporting unusual activity
Customer Services
· Deliver a high standard of customer service including:
· Dispensing fuel, gas, and electricity services
· Assisting customers arriving and departing
· Handling enquiries in person and by telephone
· Take payments including cash and card transactions
· Support administration team by ensuring required paperwork is completed and available
Safety & Compliance
· Train to be part of the Oil Spill Response Team
· Understand and apply all health and safety procedures
· Take an active role in ensuring safe working practices for staff and customers
· Act as site warden when working alone, taking responsibility for safety and security
Based
· At the marina complex
· Will involve visiting other company property for inspections and maintenance
· May involve travelling to training courses, which you will be financially reimbursed.
Requirements for the role
· Ability to follow procedures while making sound operational decisions
· Comfortable working in a physically demanding outdoor environment (85% of time)
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
· Confident working independently or as part of a small team
· Willingness to take responsibility for safety-critical operations
Desirable Skills & Experience
· Ability to operate or willingness to learn operation of large hydraulic lifting machinery
· Competence with hand tools and general maintenance work
· Good understanding of rope work and basic boat handling
· Experience using general IT and operational systems (till, card machine, CCTV, VHF, etc.)
· RYA Powerboat Level 2
· IOSH Working Safely
· First Aid at Work
· Fire safety training
· Experience in boat lifting or yard operations
Please note this is a small team and requires everyone to take an active role in providing a high standard of service for all our customer. Operational staff will spend at least 85% of their time outside undertaking physical work.

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
