Financial Controller & HR Administrator
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire (Office Based)

Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Performance Bonus

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented Financial Controller & HR Administrator to support our expanding team and operations.
This is a varied role combining finance, HR administration, compliance, and operational support.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management
- Prepare monthly management accounts and profit & loss reports.
- Monitor cash flow and financial performance.
- Complete VAT returns and ensure HMRC compliance.
- Perform bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Monitor business KPIs and prepare management reports.
- Liaise with external accountants and finance providers.
- Assist with payroll administration and pension reporting.
HR Administration
- Manage employee onboarding and induction processes.
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation.
- Support recruitment activities including job adverts, interviews, and onboarding.
- Manage holiday records, sickness reporting, and absence tracking.
- Coordinate staff training and development records.
- Assist with employment contracts and HR policies.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company procedures.
Operations Support
- Assist with scheduling repairs and maintenance works.
- Allocate jobs to cleaners, inspectors, and handymen.
- Track completion of maintenance tasks.
- Support compliance processes including:
- Health & Safety
- Fire Safety
- Property Compliance
- Insurance documentation
- Maintain operational reporting systems and dashboards.
- Support event administration and business projects as required.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience in finance, bookkeeping, or financial control.
- Experience completing VAT returns and bank reconciliations.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Professional and confidential approach to work.
Desirable
- AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CIPD or equivalent qualification.
- Experience within property, hospitality, serviced accommodation, or franchising.
- Experience using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software.
- Knowledge of HR processes and employment legislation.
Performance Indicators
Successful candidates will be measured on:
- Timely completion of monthly accounts.
- VAT submissions completed accurately and on time.
- Bank reconciliations completed weekly.
- Payroll accuracy.
- Staff onboarding completed efficiently.
- Compliance records maintained correctly.
- Operational tasks completed within agreed deadlines.
